We are HIBINO JAPAN

Founded in 1919, we are a company that consistently handles commercial tableware in the Mino ware production area of Gifu Prefecture. We supply tableware to various restaurants not only in Japan but also around the world. Currently, under the brand “HIBINO JAPAN,” we develop tableware with enhanced added value, which is used in Michelin-starred restaurants and luxury hotels.

The History of Mino Ware

Mino ware, with a history spanning 1,300 years, traces its origins back to the late 3rd century Kofun period. During the Azuchi-Momoyama period, the establishment of the tea ceremony led to the creation of ‘Mino-Momoyama ceramics,’ laying the foundation for Mino ware. This era saw the emergence of exquisite tea ceramics, such as Shino, Oribe, Kizeto, and Setoguro. By the late Edo period, porcelain production had begun. The Tono region, recognized by the Japanese government in 1978 as a traditional craft production area, is Japan’s largest center for ceramic production, currently accounting for about half of the country’s total ceramic output.
